Welcome to the Indian Sunset
Dispatches
Carla King is a San Francisco-based
travel and technology writer and author of The American Borders Dispatches created in 1995, the first
complete realtime multimedia Internet travelogue.
In 1998 she sent dispatches during a journey from Beijing
to the Tibetan border in The China Road Dispatches. Indian Sunset
is the third in the trilogy of online journeys.
During the trip, Carla will be reporting
on several specific topics in addition to her travel experiences:
the Enfield motorcycle and her computing experiences, technology
and the state of the Internet in India and how it is being used
by the general public; on women's issues, and on her spiritual
journey to the famous South Indian temples. She'll also try to post a short journal entry and photo every evening at sunset.

Site Overview
This is an archive
of a realtime travel experience in 2001.
The What's
New area
in the upper-right corner was used to link quickly to fresh updates
while the trip was going on. The Sunset
Journal is a day-by-day
log, mostly with photos. Galleries showcase
the best digital photographs, and Dispatches hold written
articles that were published weekly. Body, mind, spirit and machine allow
you to explore some of the background issues of preparation for
the
trip, links to other sites and philosophies of the Indian culture.
Below is a map which you can use to explore some of the areas
where Carla was traveling.
